March was a pretty special month. Not only is March my birthday month (yay!!!), but it was the second busiest month in Southern Peach Pastry history (December, not surprisingly, still ranks #1)!!
The month kicked off with a basketball smash cake for one of my favorite one-year olds (and future NBA star...just look at those little Jordans), Jacob.
The basketball theme continued throughout the month. Tipping off the NCAA March Madness tournament, we put together a basketball themed dessert bar for Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta for their Friday tourney celebration. These basketball macs might be my most favorite thing eevverrrr.
We created cookie gifts for Kendra Scott Perimeter & Lenox stores, Financial Force, SalesLoft, USTN, Allied Marketing, and a number of customized cookies for baby showers, bridal showers, and birthday parties! We don't do many cakes, but March saw a few small celebration cakes, and a 50th birthday cake for a friend!
In mid-March, I attended the Plywood Retreat held at a home on Lake Jackson, about an hour southeast of Atlanta. Our group of social entrepreneurs spent three-days diving into our businesses, learning from mentors in the community, shared in the collective camaraderie with fellow leaders, learned from an hand-selected mentor, ate delicious food, and met new friends! The retreat was everything I could've hoped for and more. The amazing humans I spent three days with became like family and they are working on some incredible projects. At the end of the retreat, we had to list our 30-day goal/action item, and mine was this website! Up and running 20 days later. Super pumped. Now to work on the longer list of items and notes from the retreat! ;)
Thank you so much to the entire Plywood People team (Jeff, Callie, Bethaney, Lemon), the wonderful speakers, and my awesome mentor Jason of Homespun ATL & Kitchen Six for making the retreat such a memorable and rewarding experience.
Check out some of their projects: Good Grit Merc, Penelope the Pirate Princess, The Known Project, BeyaMade, SustainAble Home Goods and Accessories, Picture Change, Orange Identity, Raw Spoon, Glorious Moments, Goodr, Third Lens Ministry
Working on a variety of projects throughout the year for repeat clients is the highlight of any month. Brave PR is a local Atlanta boutique marketing and PR agency that we've had the privledge of working with on a number of fun projects. In March, we created Ninjago cookies celebrating the Ultimate LEGO Ninjago Experience at the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta and strawberry cupcakes for Atlanta media celebrating Pike Family Nurseries Super Strawberry Saturday.
The end of March was really special, and where the real 'Madness' began! In our largest single order to date, we created 500 custom cookies for Coca-Cola that we shipped to Texas for their activations at the NCCA Final Four in San Antonio. Five hundred is A LOT! Pretty proud! I can't thank the Coca-Cola team (Julie, Ann Marie, Cindy) enough! And special thanks to Carolyn & Susan for their help completing the project. When you're a one-woman operation, the help from friends and family is very much appreciated!
Following the Coca-Cola cookies, the last weekend in March wrapped up with a wedding, baby shower (guest and macarons), and bridal shower afternoon tea (and not much sleep!). Congrats to Brett & Brett (#harmangottrapped), mama-to-be Sasha & Josh, and Jessica & Brian on their upcoming nuptials.
A few other highlights include working with Urban Tree Cidery on some St. Patrick's Day Lucky Charm treats to go with their cider flights and macaron favor boxes for a bridesmaid asking gift!
There wasn't a whole lot of personal time in March, but I did have a lovely birthday celebration with friends and made it to the United home opener to celebrate another friends birthday!
Thanks so much to the ATL community for making my birthday month such a fab one! Thank you always for the continued support.
Lots of love xxx
